2010 Volvo S60 Elegant Car Concept

A few days before Christmas, Volvo Cars treating the automotive world to unwrap the beginning of a car that will shine brightly on the streets for years to come.

The Volvo S60 Concept gives the car world a glimpse of what the all-new Volvo S60 is going to look like when it arrives in 2010.

The all-new S60 will be one of the strongest players in a segment where the competition is razor-sharp,’ says Volvo Cars President and CEO Stephen Odell.

The coupe-inspired lines that gave the original S60 its characteristic stance are even more pronounced in the next generation.

‘The sporty design gives visual promise of an enthusiastic drive and I can assure you here and now that the all-new S60 will live up to that promise. The driving properties are better than in any previous Volvo. The car’s technology will also help you to be a better and safer driver,’ says Stephen Odell.
The concept car reveals that the Volvo Cars design team is stepping up to the next level in the development of the products’ DNA.

‘The concept car’s exterior gives a clear indication of what customers can expect of the all-new S60. On the inside we’ve been even more daring – there the focus has been on creating a vision of the future in the slightly longer perspective,’ says Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin.

New Style of Cabriolet Volkswagen Eos

Volkswagen company presented the official information on updated coupe-cabriolet Eos which will be presented general public in November on autoshow in Los Angeles. Car sales in the European market begin in January of next year.

Lotus Presented the 1st Hybrid Car

The British manufacturer of sports cars Lotus presented the first hybrid — the City Car Concept.

Unique within the 911 Carrera family, the GTS combines the 44 millimetre wider body of the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 models – including widened rear track – with a classic rear-wheel drive configuration. The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS sits on 19-inch centre-locking RS Spyder alloy wheels, painted in black with high-gloss finished rims, with 235/35 ZR 19 tyres on the front axle and 305/30 ZR 19 tyres on the rear. Further features include the SportDesign front apron with spoiler edge painted in black, special side skirts also in black, and the Carrera GTS logotype on doors and rear lid, in black or silver depending on the body colour. The area between the two tailpipes on the rear apron is also finished in black.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS will have its global debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show on October 2 and goes on sale in the UK in December, priced from £76,758 for the Coupe and £83,493 for the Cabriolet.

The Audi TTS, in both the Coupé and Roadster body styles, combining an exciting sport with cultured comfort. two-liter TFSI with a supercharger and the large number of additional amendments pumps 200 kW (272 hp) and 350 Nm (£ 258.15-ft) of torque, the last from 2,500 to 5.000 rpm. Alloy 18-inch tires 245/40-series, the Audi magnetic ride adaptive damper system, the Sport button and a powerful braking system with internally ventilated discs four make the Audi TTS extremely dynamic. The agency, which has been lowered 10 mm (0,39 in) compared to the model size was an array of design updates. The most striking of these is a single-part grille with aluminum-look horizontal double bar and guard.

Two Cool Coupes Flying to Florida, together

Two topics that get more coverage than anything else here at Autopia are cars and airplanes. But rarely do we get chance to write about them simultaneously. So you can imagine how excited we were when the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association asked us to join a fly-and-drive rally from Maryland to Florida for the annual Sun ‘n Fun airshow.

Who would turn down a road trip and long-distance flight? Not us. But there was a catch: We’d be making the trip in two vehicles you probably wouldn’t think of for covering great distances — a Smart ForTwo and a Remos GX, a similarly small, light sport aircraft.

The purpose of the trip is to highlight the capabilities of the two vehicles. After some initial reservations about being crammed into two itty-bitty vehicles for hundreds of miles, we came to love the idea. We’ll be taking four days to make a trip any self-respecting road-tripper could make in a single caffeine-fueled push, giving us plenty of time for fun and to explore both in the air and on the ground.

The vehicles in question are pretty cool. They’re surprisingly roomy despite their diminutive dimensions, and they make creative use of design and engineering to deliver relatively efficient travel, even if they may be better suited for shorter trips close to home.

Sure, if we had our way we’d make the trip in a Ferrari 599 GTO and a Cessna Corvalis TT. But the Fortwo and the Remos are more in line with the budgets of mere mortals, and if our friend Paul Shippey can drive to the Arctic Circle in a ForTwo, a ride to Florida should be a breeze.

We leave Frederick, Maryland, on Saturday and plan to arrive in Lakeland, Florida in time to open the airshow at Sun ‘n Fun on Tuesday. The two teams making the trip are Ian Twombly, an editor with Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s Flight Training magazine who is traveling with Steve Chupnick of Motorweek. I’ll make the trip with Alyssa Miller, director of the association’s e-media. Each team will drive half the trip in the Fortwo and fly the other half in the Remos. We’re starting in the Fortwo and will make the switch somewhere in South Carolina.

We’ll Tweet and post updates during the trip and give you a taste of life on the road with a small car, and in the air in a small plane. And of course we’ll be reporting from the air show. Ready. Set. Go!

Peugeot begins the European sales of sport coupe RCZ

Company Peugeot begins the European sales of the beautiful model most, probably, for last decade. In honour of this event the French motor-car manufacturer has prepared a new selection of photos on which sport coupe RCZ appears in all magnificence.

The serial version of this car has been presented for the first time last year on a motor show in Frankfurt then it was found out, that RCZ became one of those rare models, whose shape practically has not undergone appreciable changes at transition from the concept car status to the finished product. Already for one it Peugeot it is worthy praises.

The compact coupe with the formula of placing of passengers «2+2» all kind throws down a challenge less refined Volkswagen Scirocco and Audi TT, possessing thus quite competitive dynamics.

Citroen has constructed a coupe for gentlemen

Company Citroen has presented the conceptual sport compartment developed by the designer of hatchback DS3 by Mark Lloyd under the project of the editor of the British version of magazine GQ Dylan Jones which has tried to create own car of the future "for gentlemen".

The prototype is equipped by the hybrid power-plant combining the 1,6-l petrol engine with direct injection of fuel, the electromotor and feeding accumulators. Representatives of the French manufacturer assert, that from 0 to 96 km/h such car can be dispersed for 4,5 sec, and the maximum speed is limited on a mark of 250 km/h. Level of emissions CO2 of a novelty makes only 80 grammes/km.

Renault announced its plans to unveil the brand-new Wind coupe-roadster at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2010 on 2 March. The 2011 Renault Wind is designed for two persons. Despite the fact that Renault pitches the car as a coupe-roadster, unlike other CC models with retractable hardtops, the Wind uses an exclusively innovative electric roof that rotates 180 degrees into the trunk, which is capable to open in just 12 seconds.

Renault Wind brings a completely different take on a car for drivers who enjoy wind-in-the-hair motoring. Renault Wind is aimed at motorists who lust after a car that is not only distinctive and compact, but also convertible yet practical enough for everyday use.

Advantages of this car is the only car of its class to provide just as much luggage space (270dm3 VDA) whatever the position of the roof.  The Renault Wind has a 3.83 metres in length which features a highly innovative way of opening up. The strictly two-seater model shares its platform and mechanical hardware with the Twingo, though at 3.830mm long, it's 230mm longer than the hatchback.
